📡 Introducing AIS Fleet: A New Way for Friends and Family to Follow Your Boat
-
Friends and family often want to know where you are, when you left, and when you arrived. They usually do not need their own Saillogger account or a boat to log. They simply want an easy way to follow yours.
That is who AIS Fleet is built for.
AIS Fleet is Saillogger’s companion service for people who want to follow boats. It uses Saillogger’s broad AIS network and gives each follower their own live map and Following list.
Here is how it works:
-
Follow your boat by MMSI
Your followers sign in to AIS Fleet with their email, search for your full 9-digit MMSI, and select Follow. They can also search by vessel name, call sign, or IMO number.
-
See your boat on their own map
Once followed, your boat stays in their Following list and appears by name whenever a recent position is available. There is nothing new to install aboard your boat.
-
Receive departure and arrival updates
Followers can receive an email whenever your boat departs or arrives, so they can keep up without repeatedly checking the map.
-
Follow the journey, not just the position
When your Saillogger sharing settings allow it, AIS Fleet can also show your shared voyage track, journal entries, notes, and photos.
-
Use it as a standalone AIS service
AIS Fleet is not limited to Saillogger boats. Anyone can use the live map to get visibility into AIS traffic across the broad Saillogger network, search for specific vessels, and build their own Following list.
-
Stay in control of your privacy
Public boats can be followed, password-protected boats require the access password, and private boats remain private. AIS Fleet followers appear on your Saillogger Followers page, and you are notified when someone new follows you.
To make your boat available, turn on Sharing and Live Tracking & Monitoring in Saillogger. Then copy the MMSI shown in your Sharing settings and send it to your followers along with this link:
That is all they need to get started. No Saillogger account and nothing to install.
Have someone who regularly asks where you are? Send them your MMSI and AIS Fleet, then let us know how it works for your crew.
Smooth boating and happy Saillogging,
The Saillogger Team -
