That is unfortunate, did Signal K completely stop then? Saillogger normally notifies you after an hour when a monitoring device stops communicating. However if that was a GPS specific failure, i.e. monitoring device was contacting the cloud but not submitting position reports, it might have been missed.
Regardless, we introduced some new functionality to the plugin a few releases ago specifically for this reason. We have been waiting to get enough adoption (it takes some time for our users to upgrade to more recent versions of the plugin) to enable alarming on missed position reports. So net-net, hopefully this should be coming soon.
Thank you for the feedback Peter. We just pushed a change to keep the info box in the direction of the boat is heading, keeping the track visible. Let us know if it improves the experience.
@andreshs1, additionally we also revamped the log details page with the new design and the entire site's color palette has been updated as well. Gradually all pages will be transitioned to the newer look and feel (that of monitoring page and now the log details page).
Thank you for the recommendation. This is a good and interesting use-case indeed. It is certainly doable but the real challenge here is to do this through an intuitive user interface.
We are thinking of enhancing the monitoring page to modify/add new sources but making the UI and plugin integration is non-trivial.
We will keep thinking about this, we agree this would be a good and important enhancement to Saillogger.
